Moel Findeg

Moel Findeg

Moel Findeg is a small but prominent mountain on the eastern edge of the Clwydian Range. It supports a unique low heath land heather at high altitude.

A number of footpaths cross the mountain offering panoramic views in all directions including Liverpool Bay, the Pennines, Shropshire and Snowdon.

The Friends of Moel Findeg were formed in 1996 with the purpose of purchasing the western slopes of Moel Findeg to prevent quarrying. The adjacent tiny village of Maeshafn, together with the Heritage Lottery Fund and many Friends locally, nationally and internationally, raised the funds to buy the land.

Since 1999 the western slopes of Moel Findeg have been designated a Local Nature Reserve. Denbighshire countryside Service manages the Reserve in partnership with the Friends of Moel Findeg and a great deal of volunteer help.

Parking is extremely limited and visitors are advised to park at Loggerheads Country Park and follow the footpath to Moel Findeg (approximately 1 mile).
